At the southern end of Friday Market you look towards the RC Pilgrimage Bureau and the RC Parish Church. The Black Lion (one of the oldest houses in the village) was -in part- built to house Edward III (1327-1377) on his many pilgrimages to Walsingham. The square is a quiet backwater, -even by village standards, just yards from the High Street that is so busy during the summer months.
