MeadowHouse

The pEDIgree family

designed to grow with EDI
& the Supply Chain

Picture Meadowhouse Bar-Laser is an East Anglian based company specialising in EDI application processing modules, including barcoded labelling within Supply Chain Management.

As EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) comes of age, Meadowhouse have established themselves as market leaders in combined EDI/labelling systems for the retail sector, processing data from all major Networks, including IBM MNS network, BT EDI*NET, GEIS-INS and AT&T and is adept at showing prospective users how to gain maximum benefit from EDI, the Company's expertise becomes most evident in EDI/labelling projects which have a dramatic impact on the 'bottom line'.

RATIONALE :

Historically EDI is adopted by installing a generic translator software product (a "Core Product") and integrating this with the user's internal systems.

There are disadvantages to this approach as the user develops their EDI facility and start to trade electronically with several trading partners, particularly if the user has little experience, or perhaps does not wish to get involved in the technicalities.

This becomes apparant because EDI relationships are not constant or stable and different trading partners often have different business agendas for the implementation of EDI. The user can find it difficult to accommodate these within their "Core Product" and their internal systems. Meadowhouse has answered this problem by introducing the pEDIgree family of "EDI Application Processing" modules. These modules reflect the trading requirements laid out in their customers "Supplier Manuals", and which the supplier needs to follow whether or not they are trading electronically. These commercial requirements are mostly carried out manually as the supplier internal systems cannot cope with them, or to include them would not be cost effective.

pEDIgree "EDI Application Processing" modules are not intended to replace Core Products, but rather to complement them to maximise the benefits for a particular user for their particular Electronic Trading environment.

In other words EDI users have the choice of installing a Core Product such as pEDIgree BASE, Atlas API or Intercept Plus or, pEDIgree modules, or a combination of both. All pEDIgree modules have interface capabilities to the main Core Products as well as direct import/export interfaces for user internal systems.

EDI Core Products (Generic Translators)

These products have been developed to reflect standard business practice implemented to the standard Electronic Trading messages such as the international EDIFACT or UK TRADACOMS standards. They are essentially carriers of the message and do not concern themselves with the business content of the message. Their prime purpose is to provide a communications interface and carry the messages to and from the users internal computer systems.

pEDIgree Modules (EDI Application Processing Systems)

These products have been designed to reflect the individual business practices of their "Hub" customers recognising the reality that "no two companies trade in the same way".

They sit comfortably with the technical world of Electronic Trading and the actual day to day processes in a sales office or warehouse, providing the user with the ability to easily comply with all their customers trading requirements, without the need to invest in expensive changes to their internal computer systems.
